TIME REMAINING FOR SEND YOUR ABSTRACT
TYPES OF ABSTRACT SUBMISSIONS
The following types of abstract submissions will be considered:
- Oral Presentation Sessions. Presentation sessions take place from Wednesday, July 1st to Friday, July 3rd, 2020.
- Poster presentations will be continuously accessible during the symposium.
Once your abstract has been reviewed, you will be notified of the acceptance of your abstract and be given a submission date as well as instructions on how to prepare the extended abstract. Deadline for extended abstract submission is March 30th 2020.
The language of the conference will be English, except for Technical Sessions, that will be held in Italian.
Detailed Abstract instructions
Abstracts (no more than 250 words) should be prepared using the abstract template and submitted to the Organising Secretariat using the online form. Abstracts must clearly describe the content of presentations and their basis (detailed case study, discussion of experience from practice, preliminary research data, completed research not presented previously, review of literature, administrative initiatives and regulations, etc) and may be submitted for oral or poster presentation.
The official language of the Symposium is English and all abstracts must therefore be written and presented in English.
Please note that the Organising Secretariat will confirm receipt of all abstracts. Authors not receiving an e-mail notifying receipt of their abstract should check with the Secretariat to ensure their abstract has been effectively received.
Abstracts submitted for presentation will undergo a thorough selection process carried out by world leading experts on environmental engineering. Final destination (oral/poster) will be established according to the following criteria: request by the author, topic relevance, characteristics of the paper (highly specific, preliminary results, case study) and number of papers received on the same topic.
Please note that acceptance of your abstract into the conference programme does not automatically register you in the conference. Presenting authors must register and pay the conference fee within the specified deadlines.
Extended Abstract Submission
After receipt of the acceptance notification, all presenting authors (including those scheduled for poster presentation) are also kindly required to provide an extended abstract to be included in the Symposium proceedings.
Extended abstracts should be prepared in accordance with the instructions for authors and their quality and contents should conform with the abstract originally submitted. Extended abstracts not complying with the conditions above will be removed from the Symposium programme.
All extended abstracts accepted to SIDISA 2020 will be published on a dedicated set of proceedings. Additionally, a considerable number of leading contributions selected by the Symposium Scientific Committee will be processed, eventually following revision and updating, for publication on special thematic issues on international renowned journals.
For any further information or assistance regarding the submission of abstracts, please contact the Organising Secretariat at geam@polito.it.

Oral and Poster Instructions
Oral presentations
All authors presenting their work in an oral session are required to prepare a PowerPoint presentation of their contribution. Oral presentations should last 15 minutes.
During the presentation company advertising should be avoided. Presence of authors’ affiliations or company logos should be very discreet.
On site, speakers should contact the chairman 15 minutes before the beginning of the session in which their paper is to be presented. The chairman will be available in the conference hall where the session is to take place. Speakers should be present at the conference table from the beginning of the session and remain for the entire duration. If your allotted time runs out during your presentation, do not under any circumstances hurry to finish the entire presentation but go straight to the conclusions. To this regard, it may be of use to prepare a slide illustrating the conclusions in a synthesized version.
A duty member in the Speakers’ Room will be on hand for all requirements. A PC will be available for speakers use and priority will be given in line with session timetable. The computer in the speakers’ room may not be used to prepare the presentation, but only to make last-minute changes or a final check.
Poster presentations
Posters must be A0 (841×1189 mm) vertical format and written using large letters as they should be legible from a distance of at least one meter. Under no circumstances may posters contain any kind of advertising or commercial propaganda.
